The Siamese
American Blue Cats are absolutely some of the most personable and affectionate
cats a person could ever own!! Their fur is unusually soft and luxurious, making
them even more fun to hold and pet.
They are intelligent, often learning how to open doors or manipulate the light
switch on the wall, for example. They will fetch toys and come when you call their
name. They can be quite comical!
They are wonderfully playful, not just as kittens, but also well into adulthood. They
are athletic and agile, and combined with their intelligence, make some of the
greatest mousers a person could own.
American Blues have an out-going personality and they like interacting with their
owners. They like to be the center of attention and they crave your affection. They
often greet you with an excited "meow", and "talk" to you while you are interacting
with them. Otherwise, they are a quiet kitty.
American Blues develop a deep bond with their owners and will follow you from
room to room, or will accompany you on walks outdoors. They will cheerfully greet
you at the door when you arrive home, and anxiously await you to sit down so they
can jump in your lap for some long awaited affection and attention.
They are tolerant of strangers, young children, other pets, and most of all, your
mistakes (like accidentally stepping on their tail). They are very forgiving.
American Blues are wonderfully healthy and not prone to any illness. They do not
have allergies, very rarely "yak" up, and it is extremely rare for any to cough up a
fur ball.
They are not at all finicky eaters. In fact, they will eat almost anything. One of my
cats loves cantaloupe.
Despite their plush fur, they shed very little*, making them even more of a pleasure
to have around.

*They do go through a BIG shed in the spring, lasting from four (4) to eight (8) weeks, depending on the
individual cat. During this big spring shed, it is recommended that you brush or comb your kitty daily until the
big spring shed has subsided.
